Why Funance

Most finance apps stop at where did it go?
Funance starts there.

Bank apps are good at the rear-view mirror and stop there. Funance starts with the same picture, what came in, what went out and what is still owing, then answers the questions that actually keep Australian households up at night.

Why are we never getting ahead?Income, expenses and every bill in one view, with the honest gap between what comes in and what leaves.
What happens if rates go up again?Model a 0.25%, 0.5% or 1% rise against your actual loan and see the repayment.
Can we afford this holiday?Goal timelines that account for the bills, debts and commitments already booked.
How much equity do we actually have?Property values from ABS capital city data, usable equity at 80% LVR.
Are these subscriptions costing more than we think?Annualised, categorised and ranked against what the household actually uses, then rolled straight into your monthly expense total.
Are we going to have enough super?Projections with contributions, concessional caps and carry-forward.

The difference

Built for Australian households, not translated for them

Built for Australian households

Not a US app with the dollar sign swapped. Every calculation is built around the rules Australians actually live under.

  • ATO brackets, LITO, Medicare levy, HECS
  • Stamp duty per state, FHB concessions in VIC, NSW and QLD
  • ABS capital city property price data

A planner, not a tracker

No bank linking, no transaction feeds. You enter your real numbers and Funance does the heavy thinking.

  • Debt avalanche and snowball strategy
  • Mortgage, offset and refinance scenarios
  • Super and retirement projections

Your data stays yours

Subscription-funded, so you are the customer rather than the product. No lead generation, no ads, ever.

  • Free accounts never leave your browser
  • Pro syncs via Sydney, encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Never sold, never shared, never analysed individually
Bills & budget

Know what's still owing. Down to the dollar.

Income, expenses and every bill in one view, with what's been paid and what hasn't. It is the first thing you set up, and everything else, your savings rate, your debt-free date, whether a goal is realistic, is calculated from it.

Honest comparison

Funance vs the alternatives

We built one of these, which is exactly why we tell you where the others win. Frollo and WeMoney are free and automatic. PocketSmith forecasts further. If that is what you need, take it.

Early users

What people actually used it for

From the friends and family launch.

"The avalanche calculator showed us we'd been paying things off in the wrong order for years. Seeing the two strategies side by side with our own numbers was the moment it clicked."

Amanda P.Dual income · Melbourne

"I assumed my card's annual fee was justified by the lounge access. Funance broke down what I was actually using against what I was paying. I cancelled the card that week."

Scott G.First home buyer · Brisbane

"The Advice tab pointed me to carry-forward super contributions I had no idea existed. I took it to my accountant and she confirmed it. That one thing paid for the subscription many times over."

Orlanda P.Single income · Sydney

Built independently in Melbourne by Troy Popovic

Founder of Funance, an Australian household finance planning platform. Troy built Funance after finding existing budgeting tools didn't answer the planning questions his own family needed solved. Funance takes no commissions, sells no data, and is funded entirely by subscriptions.

Questions

The things everyone asks

Is Funance really free?
Yes. Every feature is free for 14 days with no card, and when that ends you drop to the Free plan rather than losing access. Free keeps the Overview, Budget and Debts tabs, the Australian tax estimator and PDF export, forever. Pro unlocks the remaining eight tabs for $9.90 a month or $79 a year.
What happens when the 14-day trial ends?
Nothing is charged, because no card is taken up front. Your account moves to the Free plan and keeps the Overview, Budget and Debts tabs along with all the data you entered. If you want the other eight tabs back you subscribe whenever it suits, and everything is still there.
Does Funance connect to my bank?
No, and that is deliberate. Funance never asks for banking credentials. You enter the numbers you already know, which means there is no open banking consent, no feed breakages and no third party holding your login. If automatic transaction tracking is the main thing you want, Frollo or WeMoney will serve you better and both are free.
Is the tax calculation actually Australian?
Yes. Funance uses the 2026-27 ATO brackets, the low income tax offset, the Medicare levy, HECS-HELP repayment thresholds and state-by-state stamp duty including first home buyer concessions in VIC, NSW and QLD. Estimates are based on published ATO rates and are general information, not tax advice.
What happens to my data?
Free accounts run entirely in your browser and nothing leaves your device. Pro accounts sync through an encrypted Sydney-hosted database. Funance is subscription funded, so your data is never sold and there are no ads.
How is Funance different from Frollo, WeMoney or PocketSmith?
Those apps are strongest at telling you where your money went. Funance is built to answer what happens next: mortgage rate scenarios, debt payoff order, property equity, superannuation projections and goal timelines, all with Australian tax rules applied. The full breakdown is in our honest comparison.
